Judge Alexander L. Paskay Selected As Second Recipient
of William L. Norton, Jr. Judicial Excellence Award

Judge Alexander L. Paskay, Chief Judge Emeritus of the Middle District of Florida, was selected as the second recipient of the William L. Norton Jr. Judicial Excellence Award. The award was presented to Judge Paskay at the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges, held in Orlando, Florida on October 12, 2007.

Judge Paskay's resume and contributions to the field of bankruptcy are extensive. Judge Paskay has served more that 40 years as a United States Bankruptcy Judge in the Middle District of Florida. He was a leader in the development of the Bankruptcy Code enacted in 1978, appointed by the U.S. Supreme Court to serve on the Advisory Committee on Bankruptcy Rules and Practice and served on the task force revising the Official Bankruptcy Forms. Judge Paskay was a prolific writer of opinions that shaped the implementation of the Bankruptcy Code. He was an author and Adjunct Professor at Stetson University College of Law and was inducted in the first class of Fellows at the American College of Bankruptcy. He represented USAID and USIA in programs to assist Russia, Albania and Slovakia in the development of bankruptcy laws in those countries.

Thomson/West and the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI) established the Judge William L. Norton, Jr. Judicial Excellence Award. This award is given annually to a bankruptcy judge, based upon a career of lifetime achievement, who has distinguished himself or herself as an educator, writer, or scholar.
