Joseph "Jerry" Patchan Selected As Fourth Recipient of
of William L. Norton, Jr. Judicial Excellence Award

Judge Jerry Patchan was awarded the William L. Norton, Jr. Judicial Excellence Award at the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges held in Las Vegas, Nevada, on October 20, 2009. The Award is given to a judge whose career embodies continued dedication and outstanding contributions to the insolvency community. Judge Patchan has certainly exhibited these traits through his career. He has over forty years of bankruptcy service as a judge, attorney, educator, author and administrator. He established the National Bankruptcy Training Institute, was the Executive Director of the U.S. Trustee program, was a member of the Advisory Committee of Bankruptcy Rules, was a founding member and former board member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, a Fellow and former Board Member of the American College of Bankruptcy, is the author of Practice Comments from Federal Rules of Bankruptcy and has lately served as a consultant for the International Monetary Fund and World Bank during which he was involved in proposed legislative changes to Mexican Corporate and Insolvency Practice.
